Every parent just wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it is to have their child participate in a recital.

In June and December, many of our students choose to perform in our biannual recitals. Our recital location has a grand piano, so piano students are not playing on just a keyboard. Our sound system ensures a quality experience for all! Unlike other schools, parents never have to pay admission or any related fees for these recitals.

One of the fastest ways to learn, is to learn with others! Having opportunities to jam with other musicians is a big focus at the Castro Valley School of Music.

Fun performances on local stages

We have an abundance of opportunities for students to perform for our community! Our students have performed at the Marshall Music Festival, as well as other various events at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts.

Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it’s closed. We have 30 music teachers, all with either college training or over 10 years of professional performance experience. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. We are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your music lesson.

Morning and lunch time lessons for home schoolers, retirees, college students and working professionals

Since we are the largest school in Castro Valley, we are able to be a 'full service' music school. This allows us to offer lessons as early as 9a.m. and we see many students between the hours of 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.  If you are a homeschool parent, retiree, college student or working professional who has a flexible schedule, take advantage of our morning and lunch time lesson spots.

Picture Day

We are the only music school in Castro Valley that offers a picture day for their students. We are the only music school that offers a picture day for their students! Every six months, we host a free picture day with a professional photographer. We want to celebrate your music and share that memory through pictures. Examples pictured on this page! Adults are welcome too! Students can bring their instruments to the photo shoot and wear whatever they like.

Our desire is to inspire our students with the love of music. We do this through teachers and music that our students love. We have flexible options that include monthly lessons, three month package, and six-month package options for our students.
