Sonia Gill-Arroyo was born and raised in Berkeley, California and moved to Walnut Creek in 2010. She first started playing the flute at the age of nine. After graduating 8th grade from School of the Madeleine in Berkeley, she attended Holy Names High School, where she was principal chair of the school's orchestra as well as the high school musicals' live orchestra.

Upon graduating high school, she attended San Francisco State University for both her Bachelor's and Master's in Music, emphasis in Classical Flute Performance. During her time there, she was the flautist for the SFSU Woodwind Quintet and second chair for the SFSU Wind Ensemble. She studied under Leslie Chin and Linda Lukas, second chair of the San Francisco Symphony. Upon graduating, she was accepted as Principal Chair for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones beginning in Season 5, The BFG, Finding Dory, and Pirates of the Caribbean. She is currently contracted for Star WarsVIII and IX, as well as Indiana Jones and Toy Story 4. When she is not recording for soundtracking, she teaches flute to students ranging from age 7-65.
