He then gave cello lessons at UCB for a few years and then taught at UC Santa Cruz for three years. He teaches cello at his home in East Oakland. He played in Oakland Symphony for 30 years and Santa Cruz Symphony for 10 years. He is currently a member of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Opera San Jose orchestra, and California Symphony (Walnut Creek), and freelances and subs in many orchestras in the Bay Area. He has played in many concert halls in the US and Germany with Philharmonia Baroque. He specializes in the classical literature and baroque music, but loves to listen to all kinds of music, especially jazz.
Paul Hale: Cello
Paul Hale is a Bay Area native who started cello in public schools in San Jose and played in California Youth Symphony while in high school studying with Irene Sharp. He studied cello (with Margaret Rowell) and mechanical engineering at UC Berkeley.
